|
twenty-nine
|
I was there for you when you,
and you, and you,
needed me.
when you had no one else that
you could
lean on.
I listened carefully and I shared
your pain and
helped to
make you feel just a little
less alone.
I was also there
when things got stretched
too tight
and they
threatened to break and spill
out into
the night.
I did my best to prop you up and pull
you through when
they eventually did.
All this time you know I've seen
a lot and I've
learned a lot.
But the lessons you know if the truth
be told were
not the nice kind.
And if I let you look into my eyes I
think you're gonna find
that I'm a long way
from twenty-nine.
